While administering the injections, the volume of the injection should be reduced to half after the first two weeks and at the expiration of the four weeks, it should be discontinued. However, the patient must continue to check the urine and blood regularly in order to monitor their sugar levels.

Recent investigations have scientifically established the efficacy of certain natural plants which may be effective, including balsam pear, bitter melon, garlic, onion, Asian ginseng, bilberry, the extract of ginkgo biloba, cinnamon and barberry.
